NAME
     sdtname - CDE address manager

SYNOPSIS
     sdtname [-D namespace] [-k name] [-t defaultType]
     sdtname cardfile...

DESCRIPTION
     sdtname is used to look up, use, annotate, and  store  elec-
     tronic addresses.

     sdtname searches for a name in one or  more  namespaces  and
     shows  the  names  of the addresses found.  For the selected
     name sdtname displays its address value and  any  associated
     annotations.   sdtname determines the desktop datatype (such
     as EMAIL_ADDRESS) of the address value,  presents  the  icon
     for that datatype, and fills a menu with the desktop actions
     defined for that datatype.

     The namespaces that can be searched are:
          cards
               sdtnamecard(4)   address   cards    saved    under
               $HOME/.dt/Addresses
          mailrc
               personal aliases in $HOME/.mailrc
          aliases
               system   aliases   in   /etc/aliases    and    the
               mail.aliases NIS map
          passwd
               login ids in /etc/passwd and the passwd.byname NIS
               map
          hosts
               hostnames in /etc/hosts and the  hosts.byname  NIS
               map

     If tooltip display is enabled then a tooltip label is  asso-
     ciated  with  each  datatyped icon, which corresponds to the
     desktop action defined for the datatype.

OPTIONS
     The following options are available:

     -D namespace
               Make namespace one of the namespaces  searched  by
               default,  instead of those namespaces specified in
               resources as searchedByDefault. Any number  of  -D
               options may be specified.

     -k name   Immediately search for name.

     -t defaultType
               Use defaultType to determine the behavior  of  the
               Action  menu  and  buttons  and the New menu item.
               The default datatype is ADDRESS_CARD.

OPERANDS
     The following operands are supported:

     cardfile  A path name of an sdtnamecard(4).   If  more  that
               one  cardfile  is  given,  they are loaded as if a
               search had returned the given cards in  the  given
               order.

RESOURCES
     The main widgets that make  up  the  sdtname  hierarchy  are
     shown  under  this  heading  to aid in specifying resources.
     The widget instance name is shown  first,  followed  by  the
     widget  class  name  in  parentheses.  Indentation indicates
     hierarchical structure.

EXIT STATUS
     The following exit values are returned:
     0         A search was completed and at least one entry  was
               found and displayed in the list of items found.
     2         No items were found.
     4         Interrupted or canceled before completing search.
     12        Out of memory.
     22        A usage error occurred.
     23        Too many items were found, and  so  not  all  were
               returned.

     SDTNAMES_PATH
          colon-separated list  of  personal  address  card  root
          directories.  Default value is $HOME/.dt/Addresses.
