Examples of using the telnet command

To connect to your account on the remote system known as "castor":

   telnet castor
   Trying 129.215.112.8 ...
   Connected to castor.ucs.ed.ac.uk.
   Escape character is '^]'.


   SunOS UNIX (castor)

   login:

To start a telnet session and open a connection to the host "mstore-1":

   telnet
   telnet> open mstore-1
   Trying 129.215.112.1 ...
   Connected to mstore-1.ucs.ed.ac.uk.
   Escape character is '^]'.
